A Question

Hi Tracie,

I understand that we are to use 8x8 canvas or wood board, and I am wondering if the substrate above (Gessobord from Ampersand Art Supply) is acceptable. I like it very much because it's 2 inches deep, and the board surface is smoother and stiffer than canvas. Do please send me an email to let me know.

Thanks!

Be Patient

Ok you artistic gang --- please be patient with me! I 'm not good at keeping my basic blog updated -- so don't be disappointed if I'm somewhat of a silent partner. I'm thrilled to be a part of this collaborative and appreciate being included. Off to the studio!!

Communing with Nature, with Friends

The times we spend communing with Nature are Enchanted moments that are indeed precious.

My hope is during this endeavor we are enriched with experiences, growing stronger, and closer not only from our observations of this vast world, but also from our friendships.

How could I be anything, but quite honored to be part of such happenings.

"We have an interval and then our place knows us no more...
Our one chance lies in expanding that interval,
in getting as many pulsation as possible into the given time.

For art comes to you proposing frankly to give nothing
but the highest quality to your moments as they pass,
and simply for those moments' sake."

- Walter Pater

Thrilled!

When I told my husband about this project, he wondered if I was crazy . . . well probably yes, crazy about art inspired by nature! Full time job, well . . . how could I turn this down. I'm going to be trying a new technique I read about by Jen Wenzell (sp?) using organza to create a holographic effect. So I'm very thrilled to be part of this group and look forward to the challenges and learning and comraderie! I've purchased a few 8 x 8 canvases and am ready to start.

My theme would be flowers.

Fondly,
Suzie

Bugs in a rug...peas in a pod

Thank you for the invitation to participate in this project. The last thing I needed to do this year was add a project but this one was beyond saying no to. Tempting me with the natural world was very unfair!! I look forward to seeing everyone's work and getting to know all of you.

Jan and Tracie...way to go and I can't wait to get started. Birds you say? Oh....I'm in heaven.

Best to all,
Artfully yours, bee

EXCITED TO BE PARTICIPATING!!

I am so excited to participate with this talented group of artists. This will be a fun and exciting adventure!

Looking forward to creating and seeing everyone's creations!!

Hugs

Nature Gathered

Welcome to our challenge!! We are a group of mixed-media artists who have entered into a year-long challenge to create one, nature-themed 8" by 8" canvas each month for the next twelve months. Each month a different member of the group will decide the theme for the upcoming month and the members will interpret the theme in whatever media they choose, as long as the finished art fits on an 8" by 8" canvas. The challenge begins on July 1, 2008, with the first piece due to be posted on July 31, 2008. A new theme will be announced by the middle of each month to give us all a chance to complete the next work of art. When the piece is completed, we will post a photo of our work on the blog with a blog entry, short or long, explaining our process and inspiration. At the end of the year, the Sixth Street Gallery in Vancouver, Washington has graciously offered to sponsor a show of our work in their "Green Room". Please share our journey through the seasons and beauty of nature over the coming year. Welcome and enjoy!!
