Ever since I saw The Institute for Figuring hyperbolic crocheted coral reefs, I've wanted to create one. Here is my mini-8x8 inch recreation of a bleached reef for our sea theme. When a coral reef dies it loses all of its color. This project started to make others aware of the danger of losing coral reefs around the globe. Women from all over the world have crocheted coral reefs and exhibited their creations at major art museums in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Australia and other countries. Here's a close up fo the reef from a side view.

BRAVO!
Yes, this is fabulous, Paula! So glad you finally got to make some "coral".
Just stunning.
As someone who has only just mastered granny squares, I am sooo envious, how talented you are.

Stunning! I do have that book from The Figuring Institute, and I would like to do the same thing, too!! Your piece is just beautiful and really, really looks the real thing as I have seen them underwater as a scuba diver! Great job, Paula!!!
Stunning seems to be a word we all agree on Paula. Gorgeous as well as meaningful. I love your message about "Reef Awareness."
Love to hear more about how you made it some time.
